What are IP Addresses?
IP addresses are assigned to every device (e.g. smartphone, tablet, PC) that is connected to the internet. Which IP address applies depends on how your device is connected to the internet at that time. It may be an IP address assigned by your internet service provider (e.g. when using Wi-Fi at home), by your mobile network provider, or by a provider of a public or private Wi-Fi network or other access.
In the most common form (IPv4), an IP address consists of four blocks of digits. Private users typically do not use a constant IP address, as the provider assigns it only temporarily (“dynamic IP address”). With a permanently assigned IP address (“static IP address”), it is generally easier to assign usage data to a person. Except for the purpose of investigating unauthorised access to our online offering, we generally do not use these data in a personal manner, but rather evaluate them on an anonymised basis (e.g. which pages are favoured, how many accesses occur per day, etc.).
If you already have an IPv6 address, please also note: an IPv6 address consists of eight blocks of four characters. The first four blocks, like IPv4 addresses, are typically assigned dynamically for private users. The last four blocks of an IPv6 address (the “interface identifier”) are determined by the device used to browse the Website. Unless otherwise configured in your operating system, the so-called MAC address may be used for this purpose. A MAC address is a type of serial number uniquely assigned worldwide to each IP-capable device.
We therefore do not store the last four blocks of your IPv6 address. In general, we recommend enabling “privacy extensions” on your device to better anonymise the last four blocks of your IPv6 address. Most common operating systems provide such a function, but it may not be enabled by default.
Storage Period
Server log files containing the data listed above are automatically deleted after 30 days. We reserve the right to retain log files for a longer period if facts justify the assumption of unauthorised access (e.g. attempted hacking or a so-called DDoS attack).
7. CookiesThis Website uses cookies and similar technologies. Cookies are small text files stored by your browser on your device when you visit our Website. They enable individual services to “recognise” you and to “remember” your settings (e.g. storing login information), thereby improving user convenience.

Optional Cookies (Analytics and Marketing Cookies)
On certain pages, cookies may also be used for analytics or marketing purposes. These cookies are used only after you have given your prior consent.
For users in the European Union, processing is based on Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and—where required—on the basis of Section 25(1) TTDSG (Germany).

This includes, in particular, optional cookies in connection with Google Analytics 4. On pages where Google Analytics is integrated, you will find a separate section “Google Analytics (GA4) and Google Tag Manager” in this Privacy Policy. There you will receive further information and can grant or withdraw your consent via the cookie settings.
On the respective pages where such cookies are used, you will be informed separately and can grant or refuse consent via the cookie settings. The cookie settings (on these pages at the bottom of the page) also allow you to change your decision at a later time.
